Click on the photo to be directed to PhotoCandyThe earth spins about 1,000 miles an hour, sometimes it seems our lives do as well. Moments are fleeting, our children are growing up faster than ever, and we never seem to have enough time to reminisce and reflect on what is really important.
For these reasons, and many more, I love photos. They are such a wonderful way to capture a memory and visit it anytime you want. However, photographs have a much more profound purpose in our lives than just recording a memory. They are testaments to our lives and keepers of our legacy.
I don’t have many photos from my past, no photos of past childhood friends, or birthday parties and the lack of those memories has been a big void in my life. Of course my mother didn’t have a digital camera and all the convenience that comes with that when she had four little ones running around. However I live in the digital age! So to ensure that my children have plenty of memories when they grow up I take tons of pictures and try to document all the important moments of their lives. I know it drives them crazy but I am sure that one day they will be very appreciative.
A couple of years ago when tinkering with some software that came with a printer I purchased, I discovered that I could do all kinds of cool things to my pictures. This opened up a whole new world to me. After growing bored with such limited options I discovered the world of Photoshop. I have spent the past couple of years teaching myself how to use the software to create digital art from my photos. It has been the most incredible experience! A friend of mine had mentioned that I should put one of my designs on a canvas. I will never forget the feeling of seeing something I created on canvas for the first time! And then to create something for someone else and see the look on THEIR face! I was hooked!
And PhotoCandy is born………..
It seems like it’s has been a long road to get to where I am at this moment with my business, much trial and error, and more error, and many long nights. However, it has certainly been a labor of love. It is so awesome to have the privilege of creating something for someone that they will cherish and will have in their family for a very long time. I take this privilege very seriously and when I am creating a piece of photo art I take into consideration what it means to the person who is going to receive it. My goal is to create something that does not just take up space on your wall but becomes a part of your home and a part of you.
