Hello Modern Day Mommies readers!

I would like to give you a little history of myself as an introduction so you may understand and appreciate what our company is all about. After starting my career in 1980 in the childcare industry I felt the need to further my education to better assist those I was serving by working towards my nursing degree.  I graduated from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock with an Associate Degree in Nursing in 1992. After graduation I successfully passed the Arkansas State Board Exam for Registered Nurses. My first staff nursing position was with the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) in Labor and Delivery. I decided to work closer with the pediatric population and took a staff position with Arkansas Children’s Hospital. I truly enjoyed the rewarding work of dealing with women and children patients in both of these positions. Education was always needed strongly in dealing with mothers, children, and medical professionals in academic medicine. In 2004 I furthered my nursing career by successfully completing a degree in Bachelors of Science in Nursing.

My work experience has allowed me to teach and train many individuals in caring for and providing quality care to patients. This is what has led me to starting my own business in the area of education, training, and certification. I would like to expand my business in the future to more areas of education.

ETC Associates is comprised of three key elements: education, training, and certification. With over seventeen years of experience in Pediatric Nursing, a vision and entrepreneurial spirit, and being a Mom to 2 wonderful sons, Eric (15) and Charlie (13) my life is busy.  It was my most recent role as an ER nurse and a mom that provided the inspiration for ETC Associates. I’ve seen first hand the outcome of patients that received CPR/ First Aid/AED within the first few minutes of an emergency.   ETC is a company dedicated to providing that training to the public in many different and flexible settings. My students are women and men who represent a wide diversity of people. Some are healthcare providers, parents, grandparents, childcare providers, or anyone wanting to learn lifesaving skills.  I enjoy sharing my knowledge and clinical skills with my students.  It gives me satisfaction to instill in others a sense of passion and pride about learning skills that can make a difference in the lives of others.

One division of my company is “Home CPR Parties”. I ask people if a child in your care stopped breathing would you know what to do?  If a child were choking in your care would you know what to do? It could be the difference in life and death. A Home CPR Party is the only program designed specifically for parents, grandparent’s, babysitters and anyone who cares for children.  It is really beneficial for new parents who are anxious with a newborn at home.  Most people make it fun with a small group consisting of less than 10 people, great pot luck, and all in the privacy of your own home!

ETC believes the more people trained in CPR the better the outcome for a person suffering from a cardiac arrest.  I’m a certified CPR instructor with the American Heart Association and my goal is to get more people certified in CPR and trained to respond to medical emergencies where cardiac arrest is a factor.  More trained citizen’s means a safer and faster acting community.
